NEEDS PERCEIVED BY THE CLC WORLD ASSEMBLY
WORLD
- The world needs more justice for all, especially and urgently
for the poor in all sectors of social life, in education, health,
housing, employment, etc.
- The world needs to gain a sense of meaning and hope
- The world needs to rescue the value of human life from conception
to death
- The world needs to recover a sense of authentic human relationships
within family life, in the workplace and with nature
- The world needs to be aware that consumerism and individualism
harm the very basis of human life
- The world needs to better understand globalization and its
consequences
- The world needs to ensure a place for everybody, while respecting
differences among people, cultures and beliefs
PERSON IN RELATIONSHIP
- There is a need for human persons who are leaven in the world
of everyday life
- There is a need for human persons who are prophets in word
and deed and secure to be habitually counter-cultural in order
to engage in the struggle for a more just world and to carry a
message of hope to it
- There is a need for human persons who work for a better human
life, who are
- trained in the tools of societal analysis leading to effective
action
- able to be critical in evaluation and flexible in response
- ready to apply themselves to concrete local situations
- There is a need for human persons who relate in the family
in healthy affectivity, whether as married couple, between parents
and children, or among young and old, and care for those suffering
from brokenness in their family life
- There is a need for human persons who integrate authentic
values through the stages of human life beginning from youth
CHURCH
- The Church needs to relate to the real world and recognize
Christ already present in it
- The Church needs to be in sincere and deep dialogue
- within the Church itself
- with other Christian denominations
- with other religions
- with people who are searching and people of good will
- The Church needs to find a fearless new way of being universal
Church
- to be inculturated, emerging from the incarnation of God's
word within the community
- to recover and rejoice in indigenous, tribal and local cultures,
to promote what is positive in the local cultures and to challenge
their negative aspects
- to have an inculturated faith initiation for the young
- The Church needs prophets of justice and hope who will be
critical and open new ways
- In a world system often failing to recognize the values of
human life, the Church needs to put Christ back at the center
in the Church itself
- The Church needs for family and marriage to be lived as a
sacrament, as a place where God and Christ can be encountered
through the relationships and values that are lived out
- The Church needs to enable professional life to be integrated
with one's Christian life
- The Church needsto have a Christian reading and understanding
of globalization
CHRISTIAN LIFE COMMUNITY
- Christian Life Community needs to be an apostolic community
at ease with the world, labouring with Christ
- Christian Life Community needs to yearn for faith, justice
and peace in one's own culture
- Christian Life Community needs to have effective formation
programmes and guides trained in the spirit and method of the
Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
- Christian Life Community needs to fully experience the grace
of the Spiritual Exercises in a deep, progressive, constant and
complete form as a gift and a service for the Church and the world
